The Beagle Channel is a waterway located south of Tierra del Fuego and north of Cape Horn. The famous English ship, on which Darwin and Fitz Roy made one of the most important scientific voyages in history, sailed through it twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During these voyages, the stop of HMS Beagle in this channel had an important meaning: the contact with the natives of the island, called Yamanas, was the starting point of a story that begins with the kidnapping of 4 natives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These were baptized with English names and brought to Britain to be educated as civilized beings. Years later, on the second trip, only 3 of the natives were able to return and the idea was that they would spread the goodness of civilization and Christianity among their fellow man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
